Career Path
The career path at ISG is similar to other consulting firms but unencumbered by bureaucracy. Employees are measured against a set of established metrics and have a great deal of control over their career and opportunities within the company.
Due to the nature of sourcing projects, most employees work with several clients throughout the year. The variety of industries in which we operate makes the work interesting and helps employees to rapidly build an understanding of the operations of different types of companies.. While the degree of engagement varies, typical projects for any level include:
- Strategic sourcing
- Process and/or organization reengineering
- Make or buy decision analysis
- Best practice implementation
- Software selection
Roles
Analysts: Analysts are responsible for helping support all aspects of ISG’s internal and client-facing projects, with direction from ISG’s experienced consulting managers. Analysts are expected to work closely with clients and suppliers to help facilitate project initiatives and will be heavily involved in providing data analysis that will serve as the basis for client decision making.
Associates: Similar to the analyst role, the associate is responsible for helping support all aspects of ISG’s internal and client-facing sourcing projects, but often with less direction from ISG’s experienced consulting managers. The associate is expected to work closely with clients and suppliers to help facilitate, and often lead, project initiatives. Associates are also heavily involved in providing data analysis that will be the basis for client decision making.
Managers: The role is based on experience level, but the manager is responsible for leading most aspects of client sourcing or process redesign projects including project management, client and supplier communications, supplier negotiations, planning, execution, and data analysis.
Directors and Senior Vice Presidents: The executives at ISG are client engagement managers and have responsibility for business development. They are highly seasoned consultants and strategic sourcing leaders, with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
