Insight Sourcing Group Ranks on 2020 Inc. 5000

Atlanta-based procurement consulting firm makes the list for the 13th consecutive year, one of only 19 companies in the list’s history to do so.

ATLANTA, Georgia — August 12, 2020 — Inc. magazine today unveiled it’s 2020 Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies, and Insight Sourcing Group’s continued sustained growth has earned the procurement consulting firm its 13th consecutive recognition on the prestigious list at #3,518. Only 19 other companies (0.04%) in the history of the Inc. 5000 have made the list 13 times.

“It’s a tremendous honor for us to be named to the Inc. 5000 for the 13th year in a row, and we’re thrilled to be among such a revered group of less than 20 companies that have been recognized as many times in the history of the Inc. 5000 list,” says Jake Wojcik, Executive Vice President at Insight Sourcing Group. “It’s a testament to our team’s focus on exceptional client results and our unique company culture that has helped us hire and retain the top talent in our field of procurement.”

Inc. ranks companies according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2016 and 2019. The 2020 Inc. 5000 achieved an incredible three-year average growth of over 500 percent, and a median rate of 165 percent. The Inc. 5000’s aggregate revenue was $209 billion in 2019, accounting for over 1 million jobs over the past three years.

“I will never forget the day I learned that we made the 2008 Inc. 500 list at #226 with over 1100% growth. It was one of the more exciting professional moments of my career and I still have the magazine in my desk drawer. It is incredible 13 years later to remain on the list and more importantly, to continue to be a growth company,” says Tom Beaty, Founder and CEO of Insight Sourcing Group. “The concept of Intelligent Growth that we developed in the founding days of the business has served us well. We desire to be a growth company but only as long as growth does not negatively impact our culture, our financial performance, or our ability to drive outstanding client results. Although we have grown dramatically since our founding in 2002 in the basement of my home, we have leveraged discipline and innovation to grow while building the necessary processes and infrastructure to sustain outcomes in these other critical areas. Our team has done an extraordinary job.”

Insight Sourcing Group Named A 2020 SDCE 100 Winner

Procurement Consulting Firm Named to Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s SDCE 100 Top Supply Chain Projects for 2020

ATLANTA, GeorgiaJune 17, 2020 — Supply & Demand Chain Executive, the executive’s user manual for successful supply and demand chain transformation, has selected Insight Sourcing Group as a recipient of an SDCE 100 Award for 2020.

The SDCE 100 spotlights successful and innovative projects that deliver bottom-line value to small, medium and large enterprises across the range of supply chain functions. These projects can serve as a map for supply chain executives looking for new opportunities to drive improvement in their own operations. These projects also show how supply chain solution and service providers help their customers and clients achieve supply chain excellence and prepare their supply chains for success.

Insight Sourcing Group received this award as a result of their work on a procurement transformation project for a multi-billion dollar apparel manufacturer and retailer that had a strategic focus on reducing SG&A costs. Historically, the client’s procurement function was a small team managing less than 10% of the total spend. Insight Sourcing Group was engaged to accelerate capture of savings opportunities and elevate the procurement function through a two-month assessment focused on:

The assessment identified $40 million in savings opportunities. Insight Sourcing Group was engaged for a second phase to accelerate capture of the first $20 million (across 20 categories), transform the procurement organization, and train the new procurement team members, who were now armed and ready to sustain savings, increase spend under management, and better serve its business partners. Ultimately, other business functions’ perception of procurement changed from “procurement is tactical” to viewing procurement as a strategic partner that they want to engage with.

Of the project, the client’s executive sponsor said “Insight Sourcing Group has been instrumental in our business transformation and has enabled us to become leaner and smarter with our indirect spend. They truly partnered alongside our team to deliver tangible value.”

“Innovation is essential in driving the supply chain industry forward, and thanks to these valuable partnerships, companies of all sizes are able to achieve success in projects that matter,” says Marina Mayer, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “From business intelligence systems and supply and demand planning to inventory reduction and procurement solutions, the SDCE 100 offers proof-of-concept that with the right planning and execution, anything is possible.”

Firm Partners with Historic Atlanta Cemetery for 2nd Annual Service Day

Insight Sourcing Group holds second annual firmwide community service event in partnership with historic Oakland Cemetery.

ATLANTA, GEORGIAApril 1, 2019—Insight Sourcing Group’s commitment to giving back to its community continued as the firm held its second company-wide volunteer service day in partnership with Atlanta’s historic Oakland Cemetery, one of the largest cemetery green spaces in the country and located southeast of downtown Atlanta. Oakland is the resting place for several notable Atlantans including Margaret Mitchell (author of Gone with the Wind), Bobby Jones (famous golfer and co-founder of Augusta National), and Selena Sloan Butler (co-founder of the National Parent Teacher Association). Six Georgia governors and 26 Atlanta mayors are also buried at Oakland.

For its second annual service day, all 131 employees convened early in the morning and completed a number of landscaping projects throughout the cemetery’s various “character” areas including the original six acres, Jewish Hill, the African-American Grounds, East Hill, Bell Tower Ridge, and the Greenhouse Valley. Projects included weeding, mulching, planting shrubs and other flowers, irrigating, and general clean-up around gravesites and headstones.

“This was a great opportunity for our entire team to help the community in a historic Atlanta location,” said Brent Eiland, President of Insight Sourcing Group. “Our annual service day is a great reminder that it’s not always about the business, and that it’s incredibly important to give back. I am grateful to have been part of such a fun and impactful event, and I know the rest of our team feels the same way.”

Insight Sourcing Group has an internal advisory committee dedicated to planning and executing volunteer events for the firm.  The firm currently holds one company-wide service event day and four quarterly volunteer events with local nonprofit partners.

About Oakland Cemetery

Oakland Cemetery is one of the largest cemetery green spaces, located in Atlanta, Georgia.  Founded as Atlanta Cemetery in 1850 on six acres of land southeast of the city, it was renamed in 1872 to reflect the large number of oak and magnolia trees growing in the area. By that time, the city had grown and the cemetery had enlarged correspondingly to the current 48 acres.  Since then, Atlanta has continued to expand so that the cemetery is now located in the center of the city. Because of its age and location, the cemetery directly reflects the history and changing culture of the City of Atlanta and the significant events it has seen. Names of Atlanta streets, buildings, parks, subdivisions, and more can be found within the cemetery gates. An estimated 70,000 people are interred at Oakland, and while the last plots were sold in 1884, there are still regular burials today.

The Army War College Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides the “margin of excellence” to the academic experience of resident and distance students at the U.S. Army War College.  The Foundation enhances the educational experience of these students through stewardship of many key programs.

The purpose of the U.S. Army War College is to produce graduates who are skilled critical thinkers and complex problem solvers in the global application of strategic land power.  Concurrently, it also acts as a “Think Factory” for commanders and civilian leaders at the strategic level worldwide and engages in discourse and debate on the role of military forces in achieving our national security objectives.  Top performing officers, typically Colonels, from all branches of the U.S. military plus Allies participate in a 10-month educational experience earning a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies.  In 2017, Tom Beaty participated in the National Security Seminar which takes place during the final week of the program.  Beaty and other civilians engaged in discussions with the next generation of senior leaders of the U.S. Armed Forces, providing these leaders with a deeper understanding of perspectives across the American society they serve.

Beaty founded Insight Sourcing Group in 2002 and has grown it into the premiere boutique consulting firm focused exclusively on strategic sourcing and procurement-related cost optimization.  Around the same time, he founded the Witness to War Foundation, a 501(c)(3) oral history preservation non-profit dedicated to capturing and preserving the first-hand accounts of our nation’s combat veterans.  Witness to War has interviewed veterans of nearly every war and conflict dating back to World War II, and houses an impressive collection of nearly 6,000 clips from 2,500 interviews.  Tom has personally conducted hundreds of these interviews himself on digital video and both he and Witness to War have been featured on C-SPAN, CNN, Fox News, the Boston Globe, and other major media outlets.

Beaty is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor’s degree in Military History and an MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.
